We might just stay, Eh?

The well deserved cover photo.

We got one more night in with Carly and Sean! She made us homeade ramen and showed us what a true magician looks like playing beat saber.

Which way is the trail??

Mama and baby dear showing us the way to the hot springs.

We biked 8 miles and hiked 2 miles for 10 miles one way to reach some secluded natural hot springs in Olympic National Park.

Bridge pictures just look cool.

There were multiple hot springs scattered along the trail next to a river, you had your choice of spings and we only saw 1 other couple while we were there.

The springs did not disappoint! The long trek was well worth it.

Moody mountains.

10 miles uphill to the springs means 10 miles downhill! Wet conditions led to mud splattering all over our faces.

Clouds finally let up a little to give us a peak of the beauty around us that was hidden on the way up.

Hall of Moses! Checked out the Ho Rain forest while in Olympic National Park.

Rings tatoos hanging in there! So is our marriage.

The setting brought out our artistic (and as always our competitive) side, so we had a moss photo competition. The entries were as below..

Felix - the winner!!

Meet our artist of the week - Felix, 30 year old male from Sweden who moved to California when he was 17 where his dad was located. A previous firefighter and currently a van lifer and acclaimed rock climber who married the girl of his dreams from Texas.  Felix enjoys playing star realm, settlers of Catan, dancing off beat to his favorite out of date songs and preparing for every bad situation you never thought of.

Feelin ourselves.

Roots are crazy.

Ferries are windy.

Spent 3 days on Vancouver Island! Started in the town of Victoria where this peacock welcomed us with his beautiful screaming.

Album dropping in 2039

Rose garden without any roses..

Felix voluntarily went into instagram husband mode.

We knew we were white..but dang.

We don't eat our much, but when we do we usually document it because it feels luxurious.

Fan Tan Alley

Chinatown in Victoria.

Felix has deemed me the "bike" person, in charge of fixing, maintaining and cleaning (he does help) but he loves nothing more than watching me work on the bikes. To be fair, he is basically the "van" person when things go wrong.

Butchart Gardens.

My favorite flower that I saw, they ended up being scattered all over our next destination - Squamish, BC.

Felt fancy.

Poke bowl time! A major go to meal for us once it starts to get hot outside.

Felix is working on entering me into calf model agencies.

Mossy boulders.

Ouch?

Got the send! (This way to get your head cut off V5)

Van views.

Cous cous salad! Been really loving getting creative with what we have in the van to stretch our groceries.

The wettest and greenest place.

Sunshine after a few days of rain just hits different, made it to Squamish!

Felix contemplating what the heck to do on this V4/V6.

It almost NEVER happens that I can climb something that Felix can't, but when it does happen you bet it will be documented (a V3 that required some decent hip and shoulder flexibility).

Squamish is a special place. Felix has declared it as his favorite place in the world.

We made a big step in our relationship and got out first pet! He climbed into bed with us the first night and woke Felix up by stroking his hair. We had a good few days with him but decided the responsibility was too much...

But for real, somehow a mouse got in the van and woke us up in the middle of the night - first because it touched Felix's hair and second by running over the grapes making a loud crinkle noise. So the next day we got traps and made a "crinkle barrier" before we went to bed haha. Thankfully the very next night as soon as we went to bed and turned the light out the trap got him.

Morning views and breakfast in Squamish, we splurged and got a campsite for the 5 nights we were there and it felt like a 5 star resort.

From goober..

to model.

Just happy.

We simul climbed up the classic Diedre to the sunset overlooking the town.

Workng on his posture..

Our favorite spot! We found this place when we visited a few years ago and fell in love with the quaintness, the view and the cheap sushi!

Craggin, less than 10 min from our campsite.

Eric! Somehow he finds us wherever we go without even trying too.

5:30 start on Borderline to Angel's Crest, 14 or so pitches to the top of the Chief, we started early simply to beat the heat.

But somehow it was still a little hot..

3rd pitch up!

Snack break after the first 6 pitches.

Made a friend.

Angel's Crest! It was just as fun and exposed as it looks.

Again, feeling ourselves.

The final pitch!

Semi-top out view, we left the summit pretty quickly as it was baking in the sun.

Back on solid ground.

Well deserved sleep in.

Everyone got sendy the next morning still! We had 3 people which allowed for some captured moments of climbing we can't usually get.

Eric sending a beautiful swoopy route.

View from Smoke Bluffs.

Felix sending a classic - Partner's in Crime - 11a.

Celebratory beer and meal for getting a full week of climbing in before the rain hit.

Scrambled up 5.4 climbs next to each other, Felix capturing it making me more scared looking at the photo than doing it.

Why so serious?

Chill day due to expected rain that never actually happened.

Felix always documenting when I work on the bikes.

Horseshoe bay! Beautiful climbing area with very slippery logs and sharp rocks that are easy to fall on...

"Take a picture of me" - Felix

"You're going to thank me for this one" - Felix

Spent the afternoon traversing the rock island over the water on easy terrain then enjoyed the beach! Northern Vancouver is covered with incredible parks.

From goober...

to model.

Hiked in and down to find a small crag along a river..

Decided to bail because it was still wet, dirty and had recent rock fall...

Looking rough...

Canada Day!! Found a local small festival to celebrate, live music and food venues along the water.

We want to live in Canada.

O heyyyyy.

Soft smiles with soft lighting.

Went to boulder, found out the approach was 30 min so went to 30 pools instead that was a 5 min approach.

Will never not stop at an IKEA if we pass one :).

We LOVE the areas that we have been in. Felix feels at home in the northern hemisphere with longggg summer days, it has become habit to climb or be outside until 9:30 before we head back to the van to make dinner and our bedtime has been pushed back to almost midnight as it feels odd to go to sleep while it is still light outside. We have still had some rainy days but were very lucky with our time in Squamish and Northern Vancouver. We are currently en route to Penticton to climb at Skaha Bluffs for a week or so then will move on towards Banff/Canmore area! The border patrol did not want to let us into Canada because they didn't think we were going to leave...they may have been onto something.

  5. Great to follow along. Wonderful to see Squamish in good weather. The Canadian border officials have given me trouble too. I suppose you could show them a Texas wedding invitation as proof you'll be leaving?
